Barrell Craft Spirits, independent blender of unique aged, cask strength whiskey since 2013, today launched the fourth offering in its Barrell Bourbon Cask Finish Series: Ice Wine. The limited-edition series utilizes the company’s blending and finishing expertise to make bespoke blends of straight bourbon whiskeys with unique finishes. Previous cask-finished bourbons include Amburana, A Tale of Two Islands Rum Finish, and Mizunara.
Founded in 2013 in Louisville, Kentucky, Barrell Craft Spirits selects and blends products that explore different distillation methods, barrels, and aging environments. The company’s extensive stocks of high-quality casks mean it can craft blends that maximize the nuances of each ingredient. Creative finishes and a liberated approach to blending, guides every product release.
For the newest expression, the Barrell Craft Spirits blending team created a blend of Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Wyoming bourbon whiskeys featuring multiple mashbills. The blend was then further matured in ice wine casks and bottled at cask strength (106.52 proof) in Kentucky with a derived mashbill of corn (71%), rye (24%), malted barley (4%), and wheat (1%).
Making ice wine requires optimal conditions and care throughout the entire winemaking process. The Barrell Craft Spirits blending team took the same approach in carefully selecting barrels and creating a blend of mashbills and ages to balance with the sweetness, texture, and acidity of the ice wine.
The award-winning line of Barrell Craft Spirits releases are sold in 49 US states, Australia, Canada, South Korea, and the UK. The new expression is now available online via its website and in select retailers for the suggested retail price of $89.99 per 750ml bottle.
