Kentucky-based Casey Jones Distillery has announced the launch of two expressions in honour of the upcoming total solar eclipse.

The new four grain Total Eclipse Kentucky Straight Bourbon and the re-release of Total Eclipse Moonshine have been announced ahead of the total solar eclipse that will cross the US on April 8 2024.

The releases follow the success of the original Total Eclipse Moonshine, which debuted in 2017 with another total solar eclipse. The Casey Jones Distillery was at the heart of the 2017 eclipse, which it commemorated by laying down a Total Eclipse Cask Strength Single Barrel, which be released on April 6 2024, ahead of the forthcoming eclipse.

The brand’s latest release, the Total Eclipse Kentucky Straight Bourbon, is made from locally sourced corn, wheat, rye, and barley, distilled in small batches, and aged for a minimum of two years. Casey Jones Distillery describes the bourbon as having “aromas of baking spice and butterscotch while the palete reveals a semi-sweet body of orange zest, toasted oak, and a pecan nut finish .”

Master distiller Arlon ‘AJ’ Casey Jones commented: “Twice in my lifetime, I’ll experience the shadow of the eclipse over our land here in Hopkinsville — a rare and spectacular gift that inspired me to create something special. In 2017, we introduced our Total Eclipse Moonshine, and for the upcoming eclipse in April, we’re proud to introduce our four grain Total Eclipse Kentucky Straight Bourbon — a nod to our rich distilling traditions and those once-in-a-lifetime moments that bring us together.”
