The Silver Dollar is known to locals and whiskey tourists alike and has proven to be a mainstay in Louisville’s hospitality scene for more than 10 years.
“The Silver Dollar has meant a lot to a lot of different people as both a place and really as the platonic ideal of a whiskey bar here in Louisville, Kentucky,” said Brian Downing, owner of The Silver Dollar. Brian spoke of the bar’s unmatched collection of whiskies, passionate staff, and the bar’s eclectic range of cocktails.
We decided to try The Silver Dollar’s Boulevardier, a cocktail featuring Wild Turkey’s 101 Bourbon and Wilderness Trail’s Single Barrel Rye.

Boulevardier
- 1oz Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon
- 1oz Wilderness Trail Single Barrel Rye
- 1oz Campari
- 1oz Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
- 3 dashes Regan’s orange bitters
- Orange peel for garnish
Add bourbon, rye, Campari, and vermouth into a mixing glass, add ice, and stir. Strain into glass over ice. Add Angostura and orange bitters and stir. Twist the orange peel over the drink and rub around the rim before dropping into drink.
