Old Forester has announced the latest expression from its 177 series. High Angels’ Share is distilled from low-yield barrels, aiming to provide the layered concentration characteristic of this aging process.

According to Old Forester, High Angels’ Share is “full-bodied with dark flavor notes, dried fruits and herbaceous qualities.” The release is the first since the appointment of Caleb Trigo as assistant master distiller in February.

Commenting on the release, Trigo said: “When walking into our aging warehouses, the aroma of evaporating whiskey is immediately evident.

“That smell is commonly called Angels’ Share — the angels taking their portion of the bourbon. Barrels with high evaporation concentrate flavors. We are pleased to bring those flavors directly to consumers through this unique bottle.”

The 117 series was debuted in 2021, and is comprised of limited-edition whiskeys from the Kentucky distillery, released three times per year.

High Angel’s Share is available at the Old Forester distillery, on the brands website, and at select Kentucky retailers.
