Sazerac House is located just a few hundred yards from the site of the original 1850 Sazerac Coffee House, at the intersection of Canal and Magazine Street, the spot on which the Sazerac Cocktail was first introduced and the company was born.
The brand has utilised cutting-edge, immersive technology in order to allow guests to fully experience life in the French Quarter in the 1800s. Visitors will be able to take a seat at a simulation of the original Sazerac House café tables, spend time with New Orleans bartenders and find out about their signature drink recipes, as well as learning how to build drinks based on their favorite flavor profiles from the Mr. Boston guide.
From Wednesday through Saturday, Sazerac House will be open between 1pm and 6pm until the end of November 2019, at which point the brand will be expanding their opening hours. Complimentary tickets, available at www.sazerachouse.com, are required for entry.
“The opening of the Sazerac House gives us a show-stopping homeplace in the heart of New Orleans, in a building with a history that aligns so closely to ours,” said Mark Brown, president and chief executive officer of the Sazerac Company. “The Sazerac House showcases our roots in this remarkable city, our commitment to our guests to create an incredibly memorable experience and our celebration of the Sazerac Cocktail.”
Guests of Sazerac House will first travel past a three-story-tall bottle wall, which features signature Sazerac brand spirits before reaching the third floor, at which point a self-guided journey begins. They will be able to immerse themselves in 1800s New Orleans, before moving on to the second-floor exhibits, featuring modern cocktail craftmanship. Lastly, visitors can explore whiskey production within the distillery before exiting through the retail store located on the first floor.
Any visitors over the age of 21 are able to enjoy sampling stations along the way, all of which include a variety of Sazerac products or cocktails. The beverages available will vary by both the day of the week and the season.
The Sazerac House has comprised a full renovation of two nearly 200-year-old buildings, which were previously vacant for more than 30 years. In addition to the exhibit space, Sazerac House also provides state-of-the-art meeting and event space, with a capacity of up to 400 guests. Private events can include tastes of the spirits portfolios of the Sazerac Company, with cocktail experts.
