The hallmark of Prohibition era cocktails were simple, classic ingredients that you would readily have in your pantry. 

In 1933, Americans were just coming out of the Great Depression. One of the food assistance programs introduced grapefruits to the American palete for the first time to provide vitamin C. Before this, Grapefruits were not widely available. The addition of absinthe which was en vogue and had only been introduced to the US a decade or so earlier. 

After receiving the right to vote 1920, women continued to make their voices heard through political actions. Molly Pitcher was an anti-prohibition organizer who started the Molly Pitcher Club.

Molly Pitcher Club
INGREDIENTS
(Part = 1 ounce)

  • 2 parts Redemption Bourbon

  • ½ part Grapefruit Juice

  • ½ part Lemon Juice

  • ½ part Honey Syrup

  • 1 heavy barspoon Absinthe

  • 1 egg white



METHOD

  • Hard dry shake all ingredients without ice for 5 seconds

  • Add ice and hard shake for 10-15 seconds/li>
  • Fine strain into a cocktail coupe/li>
  • Cut a small coin from the grapefruit and zest over the cocktail for aroma and discard/li>
